Dr. Nima Namgyal Sherpa
Dr. Nima Namgyal Sherpa is a medical doctor and accomplished expedition medic with a profound respect for mountains, nature, and wilderness. He has served on numerous Himalayan expeditions, treks, and rescues, both nationally and internationally. Dr. Sherpa holds a Diploma in Outdoor Education/Leadership from NOLS USA, Wilderness First Responder certification, a Postgraduate Diploma in Mountain Medicine (MMSN Nepal), and a Diploma in Mountain Emergency Medicine (Institute of Mountain Emergency Medicine, Italy, UIAA/ISMM/ICAR accredited). He has completed mountain rescue training in Nepal and Italy, and a Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine elective in the United Kingdom. In addition to providing medical care at base camps, he has successfully accompanied teams to the summits of Mt. Everest, Mt. Manaslu, Mt. Ama Dablam, Lobuche East, Island Peak, and other major peaks.
LaMa
LaMa is the Director and instructor at Himalayan Medics with more than 10 years experience in the outdoor adventure field in Nepal. LaMa loves the outdoors and adventure sports; spending most of his time trekking, Camping, and facilitating outdoor/wilderness medicine courses. He is certified in first aid and CPR from NOLS and the American Heart Association; Basic and Advanced Ice Climbing from Khumbu Climbing Centre and Basic Rescue as well as Basic Mountaineering from Nepal Mountaineering Association. LaMa has great enthusiasm for learning, consistently striving to upgrade his skills and knowledge, and help others do the same as an instructor, guide, mentor or friend. His passion for Himalayan Medics stems from his respect for continuous learning, and his ultimate goal of promoting Nepal as the foremost adventure hub of the world. LaMa is also an Everest summiter who walked from Kathmandu to summit of Mt.Everest back in 2024 without any mechanical support.
Ajay Narsingh Rana
Ajay has built a career spanning over two decades, shaped by exploration, adventure, and a deep connection to nature. His commitment to outdoor education, adventure sports, and wilderness response defines his professional path. Ajay joined Himalayan Medics in 2017, contributing to Nepal’s Rural First Aid pilot project with MTI Nepal in Dhading, where he trained over 750 individuals. He continues to serve as a Wilderness First Aid trainer, having trained more than 400 people to date. In addition to his training role, Ajay acts as a wilderness first responder for major events, including Everest 135, Ratnange Enduro, Grand Himalayan Enduro, and the Golden Trail Series, providing critical emergency support in remote and challenging environments.
Niren Maharjan
Nirendra Maharjan is a dedicated Wilderness First Responder with extensive experience in emergency medical care for outdoor events and extreme adventure sports. He completed his Wilderness First Aid (2017) and Wilderness Advanced First Aid (2018) with Himalayan Medics and earned his Wilderness First Responder certification from NOLS in 2020. Since then, he has served as a wilderness medic for major sporting events, coordinated medical teams, and facilitated wilderness first aid training for government and private organizations. Nirendra holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mountaineering Studies from Nepal Mountain Academy. His mountaineering achievements include summiting Mera Peak and an attempt on Himlung Himal. Committed to outdoor safety and education, he brings deep expertise, professionalism, and passion to every environment he works in.
Mingma Sherpa
Mingma, originally from Phaplu, is a dedicated outdoor professional deeply rooted in her Himalayan heritage. Growing up in the mountains fostered her passion for the outdoors, which she channels into her work as a mountaineer, trekking guide, and outdoor medic. A registered nurse by profession, Mingma skillfully integrates her medical expertise with her love for the wilderness. Since 2018, she has served as a Wilderness First Aid instructor with Himalayan Medics, contributing significantly to outdoor safety and education. Her commitment, experience, and deep connection to her community make her an invaluable member of the team, inspiring others through her dedication to both healthcare and adventure.
Rachna Lama
Rachana Lama serves as the Logistics and Event Manager at Himalayan Medics, ensuring the smooth coordination of multi-day courses and maintaining the readiness of essential equipment, including first aid kits. Her organizational skills and attention to detail are vital to the success of the team’s operations. In addition to her role at Himalayan Medics, Rachana is a certified fitness instructor, passionate about promoting health, wellness, and outdoor activities. She is dedicated to inspiring others to achieve their fitness goals while supporting the broader mission of safety and preparedness in outdoor environments. Her efficiency, enthusiasm, and commitment make her an indispensable part of the organization.
Nim Yangji Sherpa
Yangji Sherpa is a professional Admin and Finance Officer with over five years of experience managing financial service projects for FHI (USAID). She has a strong background in account management, financial process development, and customer service. Highly organized and detail-oriented, Yangji brings excellent communication skills and a commitment to operational efficiency. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Thames International College. Her expertise and dedication make her an integral part of ensuring smooth financial and administrative operations within the organization.
Sushma Chaudhary
Sushma is a Registered Nurse who has been working at the National Hospital (TU Teaching Hospital) since 2019 and is also a USA-licensed Registered Nurse. She has been an active member of Himalayan Medics since 2019, contributing her medical expertise to wilderness and high-altitude environments. Passionate about the outdoors, Sushma brings valuable experience in providing medical care in remote and challenging settings. Her dedication to both clinical excellence and outdoor medicine makes her a vital part of the Himalayan Medics team.
